STAR BOTANICAL ACTIVE INGREDIENT: TOMATO EXTRACT

STAR BOTANICAL ACTIVE INGREDIENT: TOMATO EXTRACT

Originating in South America, the tomato plant is widely used and appreciated in many countries for its health benefits. In Chile and Ecuador in particular, tomato plants grow in the wild and produce fruit year-round thanks to the tropical climate, while in Europe, if grown outdoors, the tomato crop is limited to the summer season. This plant was introduced to Europe by the Spanish in the 16th century.

The tomato is ideal for the dietary needs of modern consumers, being low in calories, high in minerals, rich in water and containing every water-soluble vitamin.

There are many applications for the tomato in cosmetics. The industry uses its pulp as a base for products that tone, nourish and firm the skin.
It’s also perfect for softening and nourishing dry skin. The soothing properties of tomato make it an excellent active ingredient for alleviating skin redness and irritation.

PEPPERMINT EXTRACT
Compared to other types of mint, peppermint has a higher menthol content and is one of the most widely used medicinal plants. With anaesthetic, antiseptic and depurative properties, it is also frequently found in cosmetics. Peppermint extract has a refreshing, toning and purifying action.

LIQUORICE EXTRACT
Liquorice extract has many benefits: it’s a natural tonic for the body, as well as a natural anti-inflammatory, and helps to restore skin balance thanks to its soothing and revitalising properties. Its extract is widely used in cosmetics.
